My name is Jordan Bennett; I am a Mi’kmaq Indian from Newfoundland. My art deals with a combination of popular culture subject matter, everyday experiences, and my Mi’kmaq heritage. I choose materials that relate directly to the subject matter I deal with, such as Styrofoam, traditional beadwork, skateboards, and spray paint. Through the process of sculpture, digital media, and drawing combined with experiences that influence and evolve my work such as Mi’kmaq ceremonies and my everyday life as an aboriginal youth, I am able to portray my concepts of the urban Indian, Popular culture, and my self-identity.
